Announcing the Femmes of STEM Database

Who are the Femmes of STEM? They are the women of STEM history - and you can now explore their lives with the launch of TWO new databases on the Femmes of STEM website!

First is the Women in STEM History database - a collection amassing over 1100 entries of women in STEM history from around the world, ranging from the 20th century to the 23rd century BCE. Users can search the database for specific historical heroes, or explore filtering entries by STEM field, time period, and region. Entries in the database have been pulled from popular science books, academic texts, historical records, STEM society rosters, and other resources that may have been otherwise difficult to access for a casual researcher. Individuals with information about women in STEM history not included on the site are encouraged to contact the Femmes of STEM project.

Supplemental to the Women in STEM History database is an On This Day in History feature, which highlights events and accomplishments by women in STEM history. Examples include awards, notable firsts, and patent submissions. Users can search by month, date, and year.

These databases cannot hope to be comprehensive, but we are adding new scientists to our list every day! If there is a historical woman in STEM you would like to see added, or an error we should address, please contact us.
